I have a folder on my Samsung
Galaxy 10.1 tablet called DCIM.
Whenever I try to access this
folder, even to expand it in the
tree, I get a Processing… notice
which just goes on forever. The
only way to stop it is to tap the
home/recent apps button and
swipe it off the screen to close it
down. Why does this happen,
and how can I cure it please?
This must be very
frustrating, especially
because you say in your
full question that you are able to
access these sub-folders using a
standard fi le manager. It is not
actually an uncommon problem
on Android, but there are some
methods you can use to try
to see what is inside
the folder.
Firstly, we would suggest
connecting your tablet to a PC
using MTP mode. You can select
this setting when it is connected
from the notifi cation bar. The
tablet and all of the contents in
the DCIM folder should now be
accessible.
If the DCIM folder you
are referring to is on a micro SD
card, please check that the lock
is not in place or slightly moved
over and try to copy ‘all’ of the
fi les to the PC.
If every fi le within the DCIM
fi le is backed up safely, format
the SD card, restore your data
and try over again. If the folder is
on internal memory, remove the
SD card and then try accessing
the fi les. That should work.
