While you can turn off your phone to stop people calling you, there is still no escape as you still have voice mail and text messages, and you may need to leave your phone on if you’re waiting for a call from someone you do know.
Many modern phones, like the ones blessed with Android 2.2 or above, have a simple option available to them in the Settings, which can add callers to a blacklist.
However, if you want a bit more control than this option offers, there is no choice but to install a third-party solution from the Android Market… but don’t worry, as there are plenty of apps available that deal with this issue.
We take a look at one such app called Call Guard. This has a fair amount of functionality on board, such as SMS blocking, call blocking (both incoming/outgoing) and filtered blocking. This last option enables you to custom define what happens to your received calls on certain times and days of the week.
